Online Music Sales
So, I have two bands and we put our music up on Bandcamp so people can check it out and buy it. We do ok, but I think it'd be cool to hear about where other people put there stuff and how it's been working out. Of course iTunes is an obvious choice, but I like the business model better at Bandcamp. Not gonna go into all the ins and outs of Bandcamp unless it seems people wanna chime in on this subject. Any bands or musicians game? Plus we could share any marketing ideas that have worked or failed miserably. Could be educational. To hear our stuff follow the links below. For Civita(pron. cheh-VEE-tah) go to http://www.civita.bandcamp.com and you'll see two album covers. Just click one. I play guitar and my wife Mel( instantkarmma) sings. Here's an example. I actually play guitar and bass in this example. It's called Unsure. For The Nathaniel Johnstone band go to http://www.nathanieljohnstone.bandcamp.com and there's two albums there as well. One live and one studio. I play bass and Mel sings again. Here's an example of that called Ifritah.Lemme know what you think... Current Mood: curious | | Friday, May 6th, 2011 | 12:24 am [apreleva]

Evil Stig
I never knew about this film. I got into the Gits because of Kurt Cobain believe it or not. I was hanging out at the bus stop by the Daily Olympian newspaper and the old Olympia community center, which was by Kurt's place at the time I think. Or maybe he'd moved by then, I don't remember. But I saw him on the street and he filled me in on them. I fell in love with their shows. Back then everybody still went to live shows. Not uncommon to just walk into a place and hope a good band was playing. So I checked out the Gits and started going to all their shows. I Met Mia Zapata maybe 4 or 5 times at shows. Really cool, friendly, down to earth chick. Still makes me sad to think of how she was killed. Anyway I went to the fundraiser concert the Gits did with Joan Jett and I can spot myself in the crowd. This was at the RCKNDY and I was in my usual spot in that venue. Right up front center stage where a hole in the stage gave me a hand hold and people couldn't push me from up front. I was right in front of Joan Jett's mic. I can still remember her perfume. Viva Zapata! Current Mood: A Little Sad | | Friday, May 28th, 2010 | 10:38 am [winifred]

It's 2010 - are you playing out?
Last year my band played a healthy amount of shows. We took the winter off to record, and getting the attention of booking agents has been excruciating. Is it our new email address? Did we get a reputation? Who knows. I will keep on keepin' on. How about you? This comm hasn't seen a lot of action since I posted last year, and I KNOW there are musicians here on LiveJournal. Are you playing shows in June? Post details! | | Wednesday, April 1st, 2009 | 2:23 pm [winifred]

Booking shows in the area
My band has played a lot of venues, and are hoping to play a few festivals this summer. In the meantime, I'm still trying to get shows at a number of places around the area (Seattle AND Eastside). We've been playing about once a month for a couple of years, with a few exceptions (new band members, illness), and our show is always impressive (so we're told). Right now we're waiting for responses from Waldo's, Mars Bar (wants to book us, but booker went on vacation), Jules Maes, Tractor Tavern, The Skylark (we've played there before), and Big Daddy's. I know there are a LOT more venues that will book pop/rock/powerpop. Anyone have any suggestions for venues, or resources where I can find a list of venues and their booking contacts? | | Monday, January 5th, 2009 | 4:29 pm [winifred]

Evolution space available tonight
It looks like my band will not be able to use the 8-10pm rehearsal slot at Evolution Studios (Bellevue) tonight. Rather than screw over Eden or shell out $30 for space without using it, is there anyone out there who can use the time/space we’ve already booked? Room 6. Send an email to my livejournal addy or comment here. 8pm, Room 6, Evolution Studios (www.bandrehearsal.com) | | Monday, July 21st, 2008 | 2:51 pm [april04dawn]

Hello all
My band is looking for a dedicated and ambitious drummer. We have been around for a bit and have ties with many local venues, but have just not had good luck lately with drummers. Is you love playing shows and are willing to put in the practice time to help us sound GREAT, please let me know! We play pop rock music which you can hear here: www.myspace.com/knockmedownmusic | | Monday, January 21st, 2008 | 10:28 pm [kriostoir]

Accordion Blues
I have already googled and checked craigslist and the memories, and found one lead (from google) but here's hoping that someone might know another place or person who may be able to help. My accordion, Fergus (see usericon,) had a small accident tonight which resulted in a reed becoming dislodged from the wax and thusly detuning the reed. As a member of a band, I use Fergus on a weekly basis, and really need to have him completely retuned, and apparently have his reeds replaced. Also, while having a feel around inside his guts, I'd really like to have a mic input installed in him, as it would free up my movement on stage. Fergus is a diatonic (Irish style) G-C button accordion made by Milan. I already know about Petosa, though I've never been there before -- so any recommendations would be greatly appreciated. So thanks in advance. :c) X-posted to seattleindie, ![[info]](http://l-stat.livejournal.com/img/userinfo.gif?v=92.1) , tacoma, and seattle. | | Monday, January 14th, 2008 | 11:12 am [grx]

New Prog Band!!!
I've discovered what I think is a really great new prog band! My own personal band Civita had a gig with them last night at The Central in Seattle. We were all blown away. They're a three piece called Half Zaftig. Check out some of their music at http://www.myspace.com/halfzaftig and I don't think you'll be disappointed. My favorite part of the night was when they launched into the "Darth Vader's Theme" music out of nowhere. Brilliant! I hate doing the whole "they sound like this band mixed with this other band with a dash of that band" thing, I like to let the music speak for itself. But here's a cut n paste of their own description: Half Zaftig sounds exactly like Led Zeppelin spilling a beer on Living Colour at a party that King's X threw for Trent Reznor and The Beatles at Frank Zappa's house. Yeah, just like that! And here's a little "behind the scenes" video they've put together that displays their sense of humor while still showing that they're great musicians. All the music in the video is theirs. Check them out and tell me what you think of them! Current Mood: impressed | | Thursday, August 2nd, 2007 | 3:53 pm [kriostoir]
